Christmas Parade

Santa Claus parade takes place in many countries to commemorate the beginning of the Christmas season and it marks the advent of Santa Claus who also participates in the parade. The last float of the parade is dedicated to Santa Claus and it’s indeed a very delightful sight.

What is Christmas Parade Meaning?

During the Renaissance and the late Medieval Period, triumph after war was celebrated with banners and wagons with war spoils. This was perhaps the fore-runner of the modern Christmas parade, which is depicted by the Santa Claus parade in which the Santa’s sleigh is drawn by the eight reindeer. Modern era Christmas parade celebrates the arrival of Santa Claus on earth.

Christmas parade Themes:

North America is very popular for its Christmas themed parades. Some of the notable parades in North America are as follows:

Toronto Santa Claus Parade: It is a large parade held in Toronto in mid-November and comprises of 1700 participants and 24 bands and floats each.

Roger’s Santa Claus Parade: This is also a large parade held in Vancouver and consists of bands and 65 floats. The specialty of this parade is, a train moves through this parade and collects toys and food for donation.

Michigan’s Annual Santa Clause Parade: This parade of Grand Rapids is also known as Art Van Santa Parade and was the first parade to feature an “African-American” Santa Claus.

Hollywood Christmas Parade: This parade is held in the Southern California and many Celebrities participate in it and it moves along the Hollywood Boulevard. It concludes with the Doodah parade and the Rose Parade. The Rose parade consists of equestrian units; floats covered with roses and it is followed by Rose Bowl College, game of football. The Doodah parade exhibits weird participants like Hibachi and BBQ Marching Grill Team, Toy Soldier Army etc.
